Spring back mirrors
I noticed on a recent post that mirrors are required to "spring back" for SVA if they are outside the car's profile, (presumably
outside the bodywork?).
Does this mean they need to be capable of returning to their original position if knocked or simply that they go with the direction of any impact? I
can't find any other reference to this.
Any comments gratefully received.

I say no as production car ones don't have to return. I think they simply have to move back out the way.

Is this for your formula 27 or similar se7en type car?? If so they dont need to spring back as the mirrors will no doubt fall within the line of the
wheelbase (take a straight line from the outsides of the front and rear wheels)

Yes Formula 27 - so by the sounds of it should be OK as inside the wheelbase.

If some one /some thing hits the mirror to make it fold back then the mirror will be a very minor part of the problem
