advice on fitting windscreen please?
Greetings all
following on from this thread... I'm getting the windscreen on a
Tiger Cat replaced by the insurance company and the fitters have asked me how this is supposed to sit in the frame. The fitters think there should be
a rubber sill around each side of the metal frame - my old windscreen had a sill on one side - Tiger advised me that they dont sell or advise using
these at all.
so the fitters arent happy about carrying out the job - they reckon just using sealant will leak and that the lack of protection againt the frame will
crack the glass.
How have you guys done this?
any tips appreciated, many thanks!

if there is enough room use rubber, I shattered the Falcons windscreen once going over a pot hole and I'd originally just glue it to the frame
using silicone. I put rubber channel round the new one.
Unfortunately I then put my head through that one when I crashed it

yep, delete windscreen , it only adds drag!

Normally you would have some rubber U channel to hold the glass gently in place.... Even some thin neoprene / rubber sheet would help....

Did Tiger not tell you the stuff you need at all then?? They always used to supply a length of 3mm piping for the job. One length each side of the
screen pushed into the channel with silicone sealant in there which helps secure it all in position. You then fit a length each side of the screen in
the scuttle channel too

I was told not to use any rubber around the top and sides, just to put a thin bead of silicone fore and aft.

thanks Paul - I was just told use silicone sealant - interesting...
U section rubber arrived from Woolies today - just the small matter of trying to get the engine to fire now and I'll be ready for an MOT
