wipers etc

Buying MG parts in Canada is an expensive proposition. Not wanting to spend on an overseas phone call to Richard from GB Sportscars, I am throwing the question out here:

Exactly what do I need. I see a lot of Porsche 911, Ford and other wiper arrangements on EBay but I have a hard time sorting what I can get that will involve the least fiddling.

So far, I can think of:
1. motor
2. cable or metal arm from motor
3. bezels for the scuttle
4. wiper arms (that can be shortened if necess) and blades
5. Switch, to turn them on (2 speed required)
6. Wheel boxes (2 or 3 depending)

An all in one solution from Europa Spares or Westfield will set me back 130 gbp. Can I do this for less?

I require a windscreen and wipers in my province.

What part of the far north are you in BC or Quebec? Not a real problem finding the wiper parts in Ontario, any wrecked MINI, Midget, Sprite, MGB, old Austin or Morris all use the Lucas wiper system. You can move the wiper blades were you want them by cutting the tube to size. In The States try Victoria British if you want new parts. 1 800 255 0088. Catalogues for Midget, Sprite, Triumph, and Healy.

I'm in Ottawa in the winter, and a lot of the summer in BC in Parksville or Vancouver.

Nothing in Ottawa is easy to find and it seems nobody talks to each other. I've been here 9 years and hated it for 7 1/2 of them - the last ones. Seen one winter, seen em all.

If you have a nice tidy under dash, you can make almost anything work. I'm using Vauxhall Nova motor and linkage. Just shorten linkages a bit, works fine. That and the fact I'm using a Manta steering column and associated switchgear, means I have intermittant too

Thanks Marcus. Unfortunately, I have never seen any of those cars, because they are not sold in North America. The root of many problems building an English car here!!

I require fairly easy mods because I'm not a mechanic and I don't want to be building this thing in my retirement years!!
