Difference between paint sprayers

There are a lot of different spray guns and arrangements. What is the difference and what are the advantages of each system? I'm confused.

I want to spray my rear wings, nosecone, and bonnet once things warm up around here (I have some time...) or maybe in a spray booth constructed in the basement.

Stay out of the basement unless you have unlimited resources to live somewere else till the smell goes away.
Also unless you are using water base paints, think about the chemical driers which are going to go into the air while the paint sets. I spray R/C model car bodies in the garage, 20' X 30' smell lasts at least two days.
Set up a tent of poly sheet in your garage or on a nice day outside, wet the floor and paint.
A small top feed touch up spray gun should meet your needs, also it uses lower pressure and less waisted paint.
