Rear panel light mounting

It occured to me the other day that the issue around IVA and protection of the fuel tank has lead me to not add a spare wheel carrier to the back panel, but instead carry a can of tyre weld. I've got no problems with this, and understand the consequences.

But what have you all done about mounting the rear lights? Where I've screwed mine in place the tips of the screw protruse inside the fibreglass to the extent that I really should cover them up. But is this call for some silicone sealant or similar smeared over the ends, or do I be a bit posh and ask someone with a lathe to turn me down a piece of plastic bar bored out and screw it over the excess? I just don't fancy something small and pointy digging in to my fuel tank/rear tyres in the event of an impact (I understand if that happens, this is probably the least of my worries!).

Thoughts on a postcard, please....
(or replies here may be quicker!)

Use bolts with dome head nuts on the inside of the panel?

Screw a bit of wood on the protruding screw?

Our of interest, which lights and where have you got them?

Mine are on the rear arches except the fog light and number plate light whichare to the right and above the fuel tank anyway.

as nick says, bolts and dome head nuts.
i wouldn't just screw lights into fibreglass either. would think they'd pull off a bit easily

Do your light fit within the 400mm from the widest part of the car ?
