Custom windscreen?
Any idea who can produce custom laminate windscreen to a design? I think IVA still requires a glass front screen?

There's a thread in the pistonheads kit car forum thats just been resurected this week about custom 'screens. There's some contact
details in it I think. Sorry, for some reason I can't open the relevant page to check or do a link.

If its flat glass then it can be cut from a pattern in laminated by your local glass shop.

The GTM owners club have had a couple of batches of coupe windscreens re-manufactured.
I think they were made in Australia.
The screens were made from a sample sent to them.
The screens also have heating elements.
Obviously there was an MOQ to make the price worthwhile.

Still googling like mad!
Is there a legal way of adding a windscreen after IVA?

If its a flat screen you can get it cut by RAC Specialist glass 0800 443399. They do the glass fo plant and machinery etc.
I had one cut for a Marlin some years ago.
The glass you would get from you local glass merchant would be for domestic use only and would be dangerous to use in a car.

Don't think there's any ruling to prevent you adding a screen after IVA as far as I know. If it's present at test it has to meet the
requirements but there's no rules about retro fitting a screen. So what isn't illegal, must be legal... ?

That's what lots of people with sevens do, even if they were intending a screen from the outset, to avoid possible hassle with edges and the
like. Me, I went through SVA with no screen at all, then had a couple of types of low screen/aero screen over the years before eventually fitting a
Caterham screen and wipers. If you do fit a screen after IVA, you just need to make sure it will pass MOT requirements including washers/wipers.

I suspect that a windscreen is something you should choose and then design your car around it! If you include rear screens then you have a wide
choice.
I recall that the winscreen in my Lotus Europa for instance was a rear screen from a Ford Capri coupe (the original one from the sixties)

I vaguely remember one of the classic mags using Auto Windscreens for a custom screen for one of their projects, also....

They used to - there was a minimum order, though....same with Ricky Evans - think the minimum there is 10.
