Windscreen glass

The time has come to fit a windscreen.
I've got the surround and all the rubber seals etc. I just need the glass.

Any ideas?
Where is the best place to go to get a piece of 6mm toughened/laminated screen glass cut from a cardboard patten?

I'm post SVA so marking isn't a consideration.

Try

RANKINS (GLASS) COMPANY LTD
THE LONDON GLASS CENTRE
24-34 PEARSON STREET LONDON E2 8JD
TEL: +44 (0)20 7729 4200

We've used them a lot for toughened and laminated glass for lift shafts and they've always been good and very competitive.

John.

Autoglass
RAC Mobile Windscreens
Any automotive glass supplier should supply laminated glass and cut to size, they do this for coaches, JCB's, lorries etc all the time. I was quoted £45 inc vat.

I recently tried local Autoglass place for a windscreen for my Stiker and they said they no longer cut glass to size.

Hi Brian

Bloke in Sudbury said he'd cut mine, but that was a year ago.
(glass cutters behind Focus, can't remember the name)

I could call in on my way home from work and make sure he's still up for it.

I phoned Autoglass and despite their claim to be able to fit any screen to any car they said they could NOT fit a flat windscreen as they do NOT cut glass.

The twat on the other end of the phone at one stage was even trying to tell me that I couldn't possibly have a flat windscreen.

Thanks for that info Paul.
Does he supply laminated glass as well or just cut it?
If you could enquire that would be good.

Mark. Who quoted you £45? I'm getting quotes of around the £80 - £100 area.

JohnP. Are you sure about that? As I understand it it is not possible to cut toughened glass. Only laminated.

24hr Mobile windscreens offered to cut my glass when I was thinking of a screen, they even offered to cut the bit with the kite mark so it would be SVAable. I am sure they all do cut glass, just they don't want to. Try to find out which one locally to you has the Shearings contract!!

I called, but a note in the window said "Back Soon".

However, the following info may help.

He's a one man band called Gary.

The Glass Shop

I'll U2U his phone number.

I suggest you give him a ring.
