Top-notch lotus 7 designs.

Have any of you seen the designs by Woo-sung Chung for a retro lotus 7 on cardesignnews.com?

Found another one

http://www.cardesignnews.com/portfolios/cdn_pf_page.php?

and his web page of a seven:

I love the idea of the hubless wheels, but they cost Billy Lane $4k US just for a bearing large enough to do that on a bike

The Seven looked like a Seven because of it's minimalism. Form follows function in a very pure effect. I like that kind of purism.

Those other designs look to me like transformer robots with lots of gratuitous junk hung on the car. In those designs, form overcomes function. It's the same thing that makes a Cadillac tailfin look good to some and just plain gaudy to others.

As far as the body designs I agree, but I did like the way one of the cars had the upper half of the wheel covered, the exaust covered, abd the headrests, and the red car with the side intakes. Just some design cues that I do like....
