What ignition system for BMW 6 cylinder engine

Hi

Looking for a bit of advice.
A mate of a mate is looking at using a 3.0l BMW engine in a kit, junking everything and fitting carbs.
He's looking for information on ignition sytems to run the engine
Any info will be much appreciated

Cheers Andy

why would you junk the standard setup for carbs? It'd cost a fortune to get it running right with a custom ecu/set-up/carbs. you can use all the standard stuff like the ecu and have all the diagnostics working still. Save yourself ££££'s for zero gain.

if fitting carbs, then i'd go for megajolt with edis 6. cheap and simple. only real issue is setting up a suitable trigger wheel and sensor bracket. suitable manifold might be expensive

if keeping the standard injection, he could go for megasquirt for ignition and fuelling, but its well beyond me

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!
