Sand with progressively finer grits of wet and dry paper and then polish. Starting grit with wet and dry depends on how deep the scratches are. You
will probably have to do the whole piece to get an even finish.

You can do it quickly. You can do it cheap. You can do it right. – Pick any two.

agreed wet and dry (keep it wet) I use WD 40 to keep the paper lubricated, start with 400 then 800 followed by 1000 and a polish

+1 except use parafin instead of WD40 and go upto 2000g, to get a mirrir finish, mop it with Farecla G3
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

I use T Cut and fine valve grinding paste applied with an orbital sander,(1/3 sheet type, cost about £10 ) fitted with a soft cloth, instead of the
usual sandpaper sheets, for small scratches. That way you can do large areas without so much elbow grease, which is expensive, if you value your time
as much as I do.

Or use a brillo pad - far quicker and a lovely patina finish...

Think I will give the different ideas a go on a off cut of ali before I go for it on the trim panel.
