How do I work out my mpg ?
I drove 63.4 miles with a full tank then refilled my tank I put in £7.73 and it was 5.95L at £129.9 per L can anyone tell me my mpg ?

Change litres to gallons, so 5.95/4.54 = 1.31 gallons
Then divide distance travelled by gallons used so, 63.4/1.31 = 48.4 mpg

Yes it is a question ,as for real??
I think he's just suprised at it being asked.
Basically you got 63.4miles out of 5.95 litres, so all you need to do is convert the litres to gallons, ie devide dy 4.54
So 63.4 miles from 1.31 gallons, 63.4/1.31 is 48.4mpg, as rusty says.

What amazes me is how you managed to get 5.95L of fuel @ £129.9/L for only £7.73 :p

48.44 mpg
12p per mile
I used the mpg calc free app I use for my car to check when it needs a service.
I fill it n reset mileage then when I fill up put in cost n ltrs n miles n it works mpg n maps it over the tie u use it.
It's free app for iPhone
So my car did 51.6 mog after the oil change n fuel n service now it's in 48.7 n it's due a service.
It goes back up after oil, fuel filter air filter change etc.
Given I did 6700 miles in dec it is a big saving knowing when it changes.

Ye I know. In may 2006 I bought a car new sold it with 103k on in in feb 2008 then gota company mondeo n that went back from new with 88k on 80k BMW n
sold that with 220k in march last year n then got the mazda with 50k on to last me till march for my company car n that's done 97k
Soooo 103+80+88+140+47=458000 miles. Just about a round trip to the moon lol......
That's 6 yr 7 month
5700 miles per month average yuck....
It cos of my job I worked in Leeds 160 mile trip a day for 3 years cos I live near Lincoln area, n now I work in London, bath, cambridge n Bradford so
lots of driving.

Do you not perhaps think perhaps the colder winter weather is lot more more to do with the increased fuel consumption?
Unlike carb fuel engines on modernclosed loop fuel injected engines the condition of air-filter h as very little effect on fuel consumption,
modern fully synthetic oils don't breakdown in normal use and longlife sparking plugs last for 60,000 miles or more, in fact some
manufacturers state that plugs are expected to last the "life of the engine". .

There is a lot which effects mpg for me if I goto London it will drop so ye I agree but when I take it for a service next week n new oil, fuel filter
ecu check n reset error codes n fuel treatment n clean the air filter normally the mpg does encrease from the prev week/month.
The mrs golf went up 6mpg after each service. Same journey each day pretty much but was an obvious increase. Not sure why but ......

That's too small an amount of fuel to get any kind of realistic fuel consumption figure. Just the differences in the amount of extra fuel you
might squeeze in when you brim the tank would really skew this result. Brim the tank and drive until it's almost empty and brim it again and
work it out from there.
