TinTop bonnet release catch.

Hi guys,

Urgent help required!

I have just changed the plugs and filter on my dads tiptop and stuck some engine flush in and took it for a run to get the revs up etc before draining the oil

On arriving back I went to open the bonnet and the bloody thing won't open! Pulling the catch under the steering column does nothing and we are trying all sorts to get the latch to release but to no avail.

Any ideas?

Alex

Ps it's an R reg 1.3 fiesta flight If that makes any difference

If the cable isn't broken push down on the bonnet while the handle is worked.

If the inner cable is broken the usual trick is at a point before the break to bight the outer cable hard with pliers and pull both the inner and outer cable hard.

Had the same issue with my 1 series. Got the wife to bounce up and down on bonnet whilst I operated the catch! Good viewing and it even worked!!!!

All sorted now, thanks for the suggestions, turns out the the cable had come unhooked inside the latch housing. We ended up getting the grill out, unbolting the locking mechanism and then lifting the bonnet about 2 inches, sticking a screwdriver in from behind to release the catch, then on closer inspection we found that the cable had come unhooked. Don't ask how, I have no idea.

Anyway, panic over

Thanks again
