position of headlights? (explain SVA requirements please)
Could someone please explain what is exactly meant by: "Lamp lateral position is measured from the extreme outer edge of the vehicle to the edge
of the illuminated area (or reflective surface on a reflector) nearest that side of the vehicle".
The part which I would like to have cleared up, is "the edge of the illuminated area". Does that simply mean the edge of the lens?
And how about the height:"the minimum height is measured to the apparent trace of the beam cut-off on the lens". Now what exactly do they
mean by this? Is that the "line" near the center of the lens, where the surface of the lens starts to get "smooth" (where the
rest of the lens is "profiled".
These questions may be straightforward to some of you, but I'm struggling here....(I'm thinking that I have made my headlight brackets
wrongly....)

Mave,
Basically, make sure that the outer edge of lit bit is withing the max mm from edge of car (add a little for peace of mind) and bottom of lit bit is
also withing the max mm from floor (again, add a little for peace of mind).

Yes, that's what it means.
I had issues getting an import through SVA, the illuminated edge of the front indicators was 12mm too close to the ground.
Painting inside the lens raised the illuminated area enough to please the SVA man.

Thanks. So that's back to the drawing board to make shorter mounts for the headlights. 
But what is exactly "the apparent beam cut-off on the lens"? Not that I think that I'll run into troubles regarding the height.
I'm just curious.
