stainless fabrication???
Took my car to get sprayed yesterday, only a 5 mile drive (on trade plates ) but by the time I got there you could see the heat from the exhaust
exit had left marks on the fibre glass sill.
In short I need a stainless heat guard to go on the sill of my stylus.
any recommendation for a company that would work off a template? or would any of of you guys be able to help for a few beer tokens?
It'll be a couple of weeks before my cars back to draw a template but with only a couple of things to do before the SVA I'm keen to get it
all in place.
Cheers
Alex

Its not too difficult to make one yourself. Carefully make the card template then mark out onto some 2mm thick stainless.
Use a nibbler to cut the stainless then carefully file to shape. I spent a few hours shaping and polishing mine. There is pic in my photo archive at
the bottom. Oh, it cost me £0 to make !
"just like that !"

PS just to point out a couple of not so obvious things.
Al of Clives "critical" cuts are done on an engraving machine, so there's zero distortion, perfect edges, but obviously a bit more
time involved.
He can also roll form up to 700mm long and has a very nifty box and pan folder that can put radiused folds on things (i.e. 1/2" radius corners
on tanks)

Just out of curiosity, why haven't we asked clive about making exhausts?
(apart from the fact he's too bloody fastidious and doesn't quite understand the concept of "perfect ruins good enough" -
current buzz phrase at work).

After he had a poke at my manifold and muttered something about some bugger learning too fast he did seem to have a little think!!
I haven't spoken to him for a week or so though, will call him in the next few days and see what he thinks.
He'd need to find a cheap supplier of stainless bends though as tube benders don't come cheap and I doubt the supplier I used would be
quite as cheap if they knew they were effectively selling to a competitor!!
