prep before laquer

After a small incident on a roundabout in tin top (not my fault!) I have
had to do a repair to wing. Just want to know what's the best way to prep the new paint before aplying lthe laquer? (fine wet and dry or cutting compound etc).

Thanks

Ben.

I used 100 wet'n'dry on a key scratch done to the door of my volvo

I use a thin piece of wood, ~ 2mm wide to sand down just the raised paint; then sprayed on the laquer with air brush (it was narrow scrape).

I thnk I finished it off with t-cut.

100 sounds a little course.
I'd use 400-600 wet

Thanks for the advice guys.

It's metalic silver aerosol. Am on second attempt. Audi suplied paint was miles off. Amazingly, halfords tin is a good match. Never going to be perfect with out getting a pro to do it but looking pretty good so far. Quite pleased!
