Conrod - I befriended a local fabrication company in Winchester who ordered the ally sheet for me from their usual supplier @ £35 a sheet IIRC. For an extra £10 they were also kind enough to guilotene it roughly to size for me (I had to help) which meant I could get it in the car and it was a lot easier to handle and store back at home.

May be worth a look locally and see if you can find someone similar to help you.

I think HalfHard = H14. You migh also want to consider the alloy you choose as well (i.e corrosion resistance, will it take a polish, will it weld etc).

I would suggest that you use 18 or even 20 swg 1050 which is half hard pure aluminium for the sides and bonnett but buy 16swg NS4 for the floor. This is an alloy that is tough and will help structurally as well as providing a bit of protection between you and whatever you pass over.

If you are thinking of welding NS4 and 1050 are no problem but the thicker the gauge obviously the easier it will be.

I think NS4 is equivalent to 5251 if that helps identify it with your supplier.

I have was quoted £32 a sheet for 1.6mm (16 SWG i think ?)half hard ally with one side polished and protected by plastic. This was from by my local sheet metal works in Addlestone and this was going to be aspecial order as he normally does not get the polished sheet. As he is also happy to cut it and to form the bottom edge for a nominal amount, i think that the option to use a local place may be cheaper for you that the petrol to go to Winchester.
