Cycle wings and tyres

I have aquired a set of Carbon cycle wings for my next project.
They are only 200mm/8" wide.
Will a 195/50/15 fit or is it 185's only?

Might be a squeeze, but they should *just* fit.

My wings are 8" wide over 195 tyres and with a bit of sva edging trim on the wheels just fit under them.

195's seem to wide for the sva due to the sidewall bulge...

David, what profile are they, 50 ?

Macnab, it is the wheel rim and tyre tread that has to be covered. The sidewalls don't count.

The 8” wings I have fitted to my car fit the 195 tyers spot on so I think you will be ok
my tyers are 40 profile so no probs with side wall

Mine are 50 profile tyres. Sidewalls stick out just a touch (~2mm), but rim and tread covered even without the edge trim on. With edge trim whole tyre covered.

I've been looking at wheels with bigger offset and have bit of paper with measurements for my wheels.

195/50 R 15 (don't have rim size) and between the side walls (i.e. not the tread which is the number on the tyre) they are 252 mm. dunno of tht is relevant to the wing width.

I think I will have to test them out on a 50 tyre because they have deep sides on these. If the tyres bulge too much, then I think that they won't fit. It is just I wanted to buy some from ebad.
I will have to be more patient !
Thanks for the help guys.

hmmm, I wonder .... one of my SVA failures was front wheel arches; they cover the tread but possibly not the side wall and come up short on the front - foolishly I did not ask for clarification hence all my posts about the wheel/tyre being covered.

will find out soon enough what it all meant...

not only sidewall bulge but camber. ISTR that the wing must cover the tyre at ground level. 1° of camber in a 500mm dia wheel is nearly 9mm of lean.

Good point, I suspect that different SVA testers might view this differently, to be on the safe side I would make sure the mud guards DO cover the full width off the tyre and with a bit to spare.
