Bulletproof scuttle

Well I think I may have made my scuttle a little stiff!!

I was fed up with my wobbly wing mirrors (it was bad enough on good roads just due to vibrations, on the rubbish round here it was like Jordan on a trampoline). I'd already used some 196gm bi-drectional and repair washers resined on but I'd used polyester so it wasn't very good...

Ended up sending CFS yet more money- shame I didn't realise just how Titanic grade 600gm woven matt is!! Oh well, I ended up using West System epoxy, two(!) layers of 600gm and 8 lengths of carbon tow (which I laid up in a grid like pattern)....

Don't think that badboy's going to be moving now!!!

you could have used proper wing mirrors mounted just behind the headlights. I have this on the Falcon and it can't be beaten for visibility, no bind spots

I just use the back of the mahusive headlights as wide angle mirrors Seriously!! I had to before I put the new mirrors on... Not the best method of checking a there's an artic chugging up from behind but better than not checking.....

I'll probably update my photos showing the new mirrors soon- I've got to get everything finished for Monday to go to TTS (50 miles up the M1 in Monday morning rush-hour!!!) to get the carbs jetted.... I was re-inforcing the inner surface of the scuttle (ie out of view) so I didn't go for the best surface finish!!!! Infact, it looks like a Pile'o'shite... But at least it looks like a rigid pile'o'shite!!! When I finished last night it was still slightly green- I'm going to go and have a look on my way home after work.... I'll see how horrendous it looks before deciding whether to post a picture of the re-inforcing stuff. If the carbon tow shows through the top GF mat it might look quite cool....
