Not an answer, I'm afraid...

...just that I read this thread's title as "Furry bulge".

I managed to get mine under a classic bonnet without cutting it. There is about 2.5" of sump showing below the chassis rails.

I see that you are in Cambridge. If you want to come and take a look, let me know and we can sort something out.

thanks,i will u2u you and arrange a visit but even with a raceline sump i only have 3.5" of ground clearance.the cam pulley's stick up by about 1"so it only needs a shallow bulge.

And this is what it is hiding. Ran the car for a year or so like this before I got fed up of replacing the HT leads when it got caught out in the rain. Rescued attachment normal_ZetecClutch_016.jpg

I've only got a couple of mm below the rails - basically the "squash" factor of the rubber mounts.

The one I have lying around was my first test piece so isn't perfectly flat and will need some finishing. Probably cost about £20 to make - does that sound OK?

Drop me a mail to stephen_@_bubs.net removing the underscores and I'll send over some hi-res photos of the actual part.

If you want still want it, give me a shout at the above email addy or ring on 07ninenine0524170 and we'll sort out getting it to you - should be possible to pick it up pretty much anytime.

I should point out that the top is pretty symmetric so if you only need to cover the "middle" of the bonnet (i.e. cam cover) then it should look prettier than it does on my car as you won't need to off-set it to one side.
