Working with Fibreglass
Hi I have a Luego bonnet with the air scoop in. The problem is that the thin strip of fibreglass in front of the scoop is distorted a little leaving a
gap between the bonnet and nose section. Anyone got any tricks to get this back into shape. I was thinking of cutting it, re-fibreglass then fill the
gel coat and spray the panel but it seems a bit excessive. The panels I have are off the 2004 moulds and are a little to be desired in some places. I
have heard the later panels are somewhat better.
thanks

You can often persuade fibreglass by heating it up till igoes soft and then clamping it until it cools. Its probably worth a try until you get the
jigsaw out anyway

If you have space underneath, you could heat it up, bend back to shape and put something, such a suitably shaped bit of L section ally on the
underside to maintain the shape.

just watch, it works to a certain extent (heating that is) but not very much, it won't go very soft, like perspex does for example. it will
soften a little bit, and then start to burn...

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Gentle heat over a long period works best. Don't just blast it with a paint stripper from 6 inches.

I'd be tempted to try a good hair-dryer first - at least you are unlikely to burn anything.
