Why does the term "snake oil" spring to mind?
Or am I getting too cynical...

personally I think it is a case of the emperors new clothes, if it is that good, the manufacturers would use it from the factory

I don't think they would. If cars lasted then you wouldn't want to buy another.
American cars had a design life of 12 months.
I agree it seems too good to be true though, that's why I asked the question.

How did I know this was going to involve NASA? It's always that or Spitfire's!

Not a fan of these types of sealants - you get much better results and protection by regular waxing - which is part of the joys is it not?
If you really want to protect the paint from stone chips and the like, I put a paint protection film on the front of my last car (I used a 3M
Scotchguard film due to 4yr guarantee and virtually invisible).
I used these guys: Link
Guy took 7 hours to fit and did a bang up job, cost about £500 but great piece of mind.
Today is a good day: I achieved new heights of ineptitude.

I used to be in the Navy, we used to have the best of everything - if it had worked, we would have used it on Lynx helicopters, where no expense was
ever spared.
The other thing to remember is that manufacturers warranties are now upto 12 years like Audi, imagine the cost of repainting all 11 year old Audi
A3's

Sorry, yes point taken. But you may have an Aston stuck away in the back of the garage somewhere!
