La Bala - Finished the headlamp buckets finally
In reality I only have the first bucket temporarily attached to the bonnet, hence only one in the photo (for you pedantic f-ers.)
Thoughts and comments welcome.
Next I need to thermoform the plexiglass covers and cut to shape.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Yeh that looks superb. I'd get shot if I made my car in the kitchen though. Apart from that it won't fit through the door once the
wheels are on.

That's my beer fridge! mmmmmm... beeeeerrrrr...
Edit: Yes, the hella 90mm Halogens. They make an HID unit of the same size, so an upgrade would be very easy.

Wow, look very nice.
My only comment about the perspex covers, how are you fixing them? I have seen so many kit cars with these and most use metal angle brackets to screw
to. And to do this on your car would be a shame, but looking at the rest of the car, I doubt you would even think about an ugly bracket

How to afix the covers has been a long running debate between me myself and I.
Right now I am leaning towards using a clear silicone for the main sealing/bonding interface between the perspex and the housing. Just applied around
the outer 2-3mm of the perspex. The housing and cover then become a single unit, and that is subsequently bonded to the bonnet with a 2 part epoxy. I
made a 'shelf/lip' of at least 5mm around the entire housing so that I could apply the clear. The perspex sits flat to the opening but
there will be a gap of about 1/8" all around between the perspex and the bonnet and I intend to fill that gap with black silicone to complete
the seal and make a smooth seamless interface between the fender and the perspex. When the perspex needs to be replaced, which I am sure will happen
sometime, I will have to cut the clear off the car with a cutting wire or angled knife edge... Hopefully the perspex won't yellow too much and
any scratches will be buffed out in-situ.
I do have a 3-car garage and I roll my wife's Jeep Unlimited (4 door) outside whenever I work on la bala.
It may look nice, but right now it's 110+ in the shade and lots of humidity.

Steve,
I'm sure there's quite a few (well me anyway) interested in this process. Any chance you can do a thread showing how it's done Ta
very much.
Oh yeah, car's not too bad
