Wanted - definitive cycle wing bracket design
Has anyone come up with a lasting and effective cycle wing bracket? I have tried several versions and all last around 500 miles before fracturing.
Cheers
Gary

I used to have the tube+flat type but they kept breaking. My replacement effort can be seen
here. They seem much much more sturdy than the original type

I've got some of the high-strength STM ones. They're basically a plate that bolts onto the back of the upright and has 5mm(!) bar welded
onto them.
The 5mm bar was a PITA to bend over the tyre and you have to use spacer tubes between the plate and the back of the caliper.
And unless you're very careful when it comes to the design of the plate you won't be able to remove the nut from the top swivel without
removing the bracket (ie to adjust the camber you have to remove the wing bracket!!)....

My N/S wing stay has broken 4 times now . Each time I have repaired it and added extra metal but it has broken somewhere else , have doubled the
thickness of the triangular plate and also the part bent under the wing . I hope this time it will be OK , if they are I will make some new ones with
thicker steel to suit my new wings because of damage to old ones. My O/S stay has been fine for some reason
