Fuel Cap - Ideas for which one and where to put it
Im looking for advice on what type of fuel cap to get for my Velocity?
I want a lockable one, about 4inch diameter, in black.
Also, what do people recommend in terms of placement ? On the parcel shelf, or in the rear panel?

I got mine from Tifosi. It's as you describe, 4" and black. However since I fitted it, I've seen exactly the same type on the side
of modern camper vans etc, but in white.
As for location, I'd definitely put it horizontal above the tank inlet, rather than in the back panel. Mine is in the back panel and it has a
90 degree bend in it straight away. This means it takes ages to fill up as the pumps tend to cut out.

Regretted putting mine on the back panel the first time I filled up. I'm going to put (another) one on the boot cover directly above the inlet.

What about MGF or metro gti

The aftermarket ones seem to be a fortune.
Another thought would motorbike filler caps. Many look the part and are designed for parcel shelf (horizontal) mounting.
Edit to say you obviously need the pipe end from the car so those ebay items are more 'what they look like' you'd need to get them
from a scrapper.

I am using a fuel cap from my donor bike. I figure it should be SVA proof, and they cost peanuts. I am mounting in the rear panel, using some of the
flexi hose to meet up with the filler.

The rear panel is quite low don't forget. Unless your name is Jackie Stewart or Filipe Massa I'd think twice.

i just brought a locking fuel cap from Westfield.
It includes the filler cap ( with integral neck ), a bit of fuel filler hose, clips and a locking ring ( plus its unleaded ).
all for £90 inc VAT.
I really think the Westfield online shop is a good place to buy stuff from. Once i added up all the extras id need from Merlin, or Demon Tweeks, this
was the cheaper option.

By rear panel I meant boot panel (ie on top) just to clarify.
