Windscreen surround rollover hoop

Anyone suggest a good way of fitting a windscreen into a roll over hoop?

Assumng the hoop is made from 50mm round tube with say 125mm radius (inside) bends at the top corners, how would one fit a windscreen into that, so that it looked neat and was weatherproof, and so that the screen was replaceable if necessary?

I'm sure I've seen this done on a beach buggy, but can't remember where or when. I remember that the screen was within the hoop rather than in front of it, and that is the effect I would like to achieve.

All thoughts welcome

John

If you fitted it from behind you could just weld a gusset round the bar that would sit on the front edge of the screen adn therefore was aesthetically pleasing and wind/rain proof and for the fittings in the back you could do a number of things, angled aluminium screwed into rivnuts would be my first suggestion.

weld a strip of 10mm x 2mm or similar round the inside of the whole surround. Fit glass to it using windscreen rubber. Weld the strip as far round to the front as you can and still get the rubber seal to fit over it. It might take some filing and filling to get a nice seam between the metal parts but it would look OK.

As above but put edging strip in the 10x2mm fillet and bond the glass to the fillet, neat and simple to fit

If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

Interesting ideas, thanks, chaps, but I would like to find a solution (if possible) that didn't involve quite so much welding.

Not that I mind welding, but if a welding job on that scale could be avoided then so much the better. I am thinking about making a good few of these, I should have said.

How about something like this, this is a cross section view with the screen to the front of the roll over hoop.

I should also have said that I would like the screen to be relatively easy to remove, should the user wish to do so
