Argh.. genuinely despair now.

I think I'm being punished for something. Went in the garage to check the polarity of the magnet that works with the speed sensor on my Veypor VR2 dash. Now, because it all worked previously, the loom for the VR2 is hard-wired, p-clipped and wrapped.

The bl@@dy sensor has stopped working. On closer inspection I find that it is getting really hot suggesting that there's a short in it somewhere. Not only have I got to spend £40 on a new loom but I've got to drill-out all the rivets (meaning that I have small bits of metal rattling around the tubes) and unwrap the loom. I can then cut and solder in the new loom.

The wiring for the whole car is (was) almost complete. I'm furious!

I'm beginning to wonder if car building is like golf. I don't play golf because I know that I do not have the patience for it!

Welcome to my world!!

On my 1st car i must have drilled out about 40 rivets due to cock ups but never heard them rattle. I wonder where they went???

could you squirt some glue down the holes in the tube to try and catch some of the metal?

ned - 24/7/07 at 07:16 AM

you'll never hear drilled out rivets rattle inside the chassis over the wind or engine noise.

Ned.

Was that a rivet rattle i heard over the road hump..........annoying and i sympathise got a seized rivnut which i need to cut off but rattling is thought i had which has stopped me doing it.Going to inject a small amount of foam and hopefully catch it.The guys are right you will never hear it

Waxoil down the tubes helps!

Don't despair! Option 1 abandon the loom and run the new one along side the old taping or cable tying it on. Option 2 (perfectionists only!) Drill out the rivets remake the loom but inject Waxoyl into some of the rivet holes, rustproof and stick down the rivet tails in one go!

I haven't had to drill anything out, haven't cut a hole I shouldn't have etc etc because I've spent more time planning than doing. I am something of a perfectionist, or at least I was!

Where's the grinder/chainsaw?

bummer
waxoil will stop any rattles of rivets etc if need be

best regards

marc

Keep your chin up Tim!

You can just do what I'm up to at the moment... forget about the car and go on holiday!

Tim

My VR2 speedo sensor blew up. It sparked across to the magnet, which was stuck to the wheel. Sort of blew the rubber cover off it.

I phoned them and the supplier was very apologetic. Sent me a replacement loom FOC and next day delivery.

Cheers

Mike

Ive spoken to Clive @ Inta Moto (seems like a nice chap) and he's going to have a chat with the manufacturer.

We shall wait and see...
