matt.c - 16/8/08 at 03:51 PM

After another saturday of doing bathroom DIY and nothing on the kitcar i just want to know what everyone else is up to?

I feel like im never going to get the chance to work on the car much anymore now i have far too much DIY and BABY work to do. Any one got any idea's of how to find time do do car stuff? In the week it gets late before im finished doing house stuff and then i feel to tired to do any garage time.

Just went and swapped my wedding suit, because I don't fit in the one I bought 5 weeks ago!!!

13 days to go

Steve

chrisg - 16/8/08 at 04:39 PM

engine mountings

And

Lager

Cheers

Chris

Stott - 16/8/08 at 04:43 PM

I feel good now cos I actually went and did a bit to the car! sorting the pedal box, converting to non servo etc!

^^^^ Good luck on the wedding, enjoy! It will go far too quickly, trust me, and take a tip:

Everyone will be offering you a drink at the start of the night but you won't have enough hands, tell them "cheers, stick a pint behind the bar for me, I've got one at the moment" otherwise you'll decline a million drinks, drink all you have in your hands, then be buying your own all evening!

bilbo - 16/8/08 at 04:55 PM

Well, it's been an important milestone in my build today - managed to finally fit the engine and gearbox
Had an abortive attempt last week when I managed to bend the cluch plate, but today it all went nicely. For such a big engine in such a little car, it all slipped in very well.
I'm a very happy chappy

Working

But, extra dosh to spend on the car

smart51 - 16/8/08 at 05:16 PM

Making tailgate hinge mounts and experimenting with filler made from gelcoat and filler powder. It's good stuff actually. slightly runny so goes on easily and very sandable.

Stott - 16/8/08 at 05:17 PM

Thread diversion:

SWMBO has gone on a hen do, both kids have just left with their nan, fridge full of beer! job done

wonder how much I can get through and still wake at 4:30 for work............

David Jenkins - 16/8/08 at 05:21 PM

Went shopping - went out for a blast in the toy car - cut out some abs sheet for rear wheel-arch protectors.

Not bad, all things considered...

BenB - 16/8/08 at 05:33 PM

Went to the Q-plate meet @ the Ace Cafe then fixed an exhaust leak, tidied the garage and fabricated the adaptor plate for allow the TPS to attach to the K-tronic throttle body.....

eznfrank - 16/8/08 at 05:39 PM

I wasted about £300 on a Wii, a Wii fit, Guitar Hero 3 and Wii play.

JoelP - 16/8/08 at 05:52 PM

meany - 16/8/08 at 05:57 PM

dr-fastlane - 16/8/08 at 06:05 PM

Tried to glue the side bodypanel behind the catalysator again, the heat released the glue and the alu bodypanel gets dented by it.

Thinking of re-panel the whole car again

caber - 16/8/08 at 06:10 PM

Building a catch tank system to try and reduce oil leaks got stuck trying to find 8mm i.d pipe to join it all up Also need to design bracket to hold the catch tank which is a cheapie aluminium camping water bottle

wilkingj - 16/8/08 at 06:20 PM

Fixed the Fiesta rear wiper motor (caused smoke form the switch cluster).

Fixed the rear wiper on the Volvo. Shaft was seized from seal failing and the weather getting into it and corroding it up.

Unseized it, and bodged (rather well) the seal from the old fiesta wiper motor onto the Volvo shaft. Certinly wont happen again for a while.
All jobs cost me nowt but my time. All fixed from (useful) junk hoarded in the garage.

Slept most of the afternoon, and still feel tired.

Feel good about the cars, but still tired despite 11 hours sleep last night and a three more this afternoon.
Going to see the doc when I can get an appointment, as Its getting to me.

If the weather is OK tomorrow, then its a blast in the Viento, and start on the Boys Jago Geep, which I want gone from the drive (Been 2 years under a tarp).

martyn_16v - 16/8/08 at 06:23 PM

Been house hunting all day

SWMBO: Ooh, this is lovely. Big rooms, nicely decorated, good area, loads of stuff within walking distance, good schools, cheap. I like it.
ME: Garage too small. NEXT!

This could be difficult...

rusty nuts - 16/8/08 at 06:24 PM

Geoff, you should have had a word with the Jago guys at Peterborough, They may have a buyer in mind?

minitici - 16/8/08 at 06:35 PM

Stott - 16/8/08 at 07:06 PM

Which do you prefer, operation overdrive or mystic force?

It's mystic force for my 4 year old.......

StevieB - 16/8/08 at 07:16 PM

I've had a good day - my wife was kind enough to voluntarily take our son to her parents for the day and stay there so I could get on ith the Indy a bit.

Managed to do some last bits of tidying to my scuttle (fitting gromets and seals for the gear linkage to go through nice and neatly) and also fitted all my clocks and switches to my Mac#1 carbon dash - it looks awsome BTW

locoR1 - 16/8/08 at 07:20 PM

Spent the day doing DIY as well but mine was voluntarily I'm building the frame work for a polycarbonate roof across the back of the house! So SWMBO can hang her washing out when its raining! The roofing sheets wont be here for two weeks so should give me some browne points for Stanford classic car show next weekend

You should tell SWMBO that you'll do the decorating in winter! That's what I normally say then spend most of the winter in the garage

JUD - 16/8/08 at 08:15 PM

Clearing out the other half of my garage... now need to think of something to put in it.

stuart_g - 16/8/08 at 08:27 PM

Went out for a long drive in the MNR with my daughter today. Loaded a new map into the power commander before going, what a difference.
I had a WRX scooby try to blow me away (emphasis on try), everytime he took his foot off the throttle flames shot out of the drainpipe he had instead of an exhaust looked quite cool though.

Dangle_kt - 16/8/08 at 08:51 PM

Took a trip to machine mart to get my TIG set up and running (bench grinder, argon twin dial regulator and Arc kit - stinger and earth clamp for inverter) whilst taking my little lad for a run out/sleep for a few hours earning me the afternoon off so I could:

work on one of my two wheeled projects for a few hours (hush hush), sorted my sister in laws bio-orb(posh goldfish bowl) leak out, worked on my crf450r, then refitted the wheels to my long term restoration project on an ATC70.

been a gooooooood day - but not been near the kit car except to get my optimate trickle charger back off a mate.

DarrenW - 16/8/08 at 09:56 PM

Just dug out parents front garden. 5 loads to tip so far. Another 4 to go at least. Love DIY so enjoying it.
