Zetec Sump

Hi

Can anybody suggest a decent low profile sump for a Zetec, there seem to be a few people in the UK selling them but before I purchase a recommendation would be great. Something relatively cheap would be preferred!

Currently I have a modified sump that has been cut and welded but unfortunately it leaks and I am reluctant to get it repaired again only to find it still leaks!

Many thanks

Paul

No direct experience myself but the Mk2 Escort folks doing Zetec conversions love the stuff from Neil Dunne https://www.neildunnewelding.co.uk/

I don't think a cheap option exists! well you have it but I gave up chasing leaks with mine and bought this. Good price and quality

Ah now that's interesting....I'm currently making up my shortened sump and looked at that link. I like the solution for the oil pickup!....I might have to give that a try, it beats cutting and rewelding awkward bendy pickup tubes

I assume this is for a Silver top? BT is really easy chop & weld job.

Hi

Yes silver top I think, originated from a Mondeo as opposed to a Focus.

The sump has been cut and welded but unfortunately not a good job. To rectify I think the plate that has been welded on will need to be cut off the sump cleaned up and and a new plate welded on. Certainly cheaper than a complete new sump but again I would be relying on the quality of the weld. It just may be better to bight the bullet and purchased a manufactured unit

I am still deliberating!

Silver top is an ally sump IIRC but a poor quality which is why so many leak when welded?

Just had a look yes could very well be alloy but thin.

I think despite the cost it will be a new sump!
