Removing stickers?
Hi All
I'm in the process of removing all the sponsorship decals from my MX5 race car.
I'm gently using a hot air gun and most are coming off OK and I can polish the area so it looks pretty good. Some are leaving a residue and this
is a bu**er to remove.
Any suggestions? I have a 'polisher' and a compressor if that helps?

I tend to use a wipe of white spirit or petrol to lift the goo.

If youre car is sprayed with 2 pack paint then use thinners to remove the glue. It will easily come off and not damage paint.
If not 2pack then dont use thinners or you will remove the paint aswell!

Have you thought of trying a label removing agent?
Maplins do one and it smell of lemons. It works well for normal sticky labels and the residue.

I've always used a wall paper steamer for the job, the combination of heat and moisture works better than just heat, softens the glue as well.
Makes the panels warp though, but never had one warp permanently.
DO NOT PUT ON KNOB OR BOLLOCKS!

I usually use boiling water to remove the sticker, then white spirit/WD40 to remove the residue.

Thanks guys!
I've got the sticker removal down to an art now - just enough heat but not too much! THe car was sponsored by GMF (motor factors) and there are
quite a few www.gmfmotorfactors.co.uk on it!

Try to heat the panels from behind, that way the sticky stays stuck to the sticker, not the panel. Hair driers are easier to control although slower
and costs mote if you get caught by swmbo.

To shift the glue from sticky labels, try furniture polish, works a treat for me.

Isopropyl alcohol works nicely.
