Duratec RWD Gearbox
sleeper - 6/6/15 at 06:23 PM

Hi all,

Can anybody tell me which Transit RWD 6 speed gearboxes will fit the 2.0 Duratec?

I know the 2.3 petrol is an option but is the gearbox bolt pattern on any of the other models the same such as the diesel?

If possible can you advise which years transit models I should be looking at which have the duratec bolt pattern?

Thank you for the help

You will need the 2.3 lpg transit box as it uses the Duratec engine. I used the 2.3 lpg front gear box case and it mates straight to the mt75 box. This will need to be done by a pro as the tools that are required are very hard to find. The transit box has a long 1st gear and not that great top speed as its deigned for torque rather that speed.
Hope this helps.

A lot of oeople are using the mk3 mx5 gearbox as this is a duratec engine as well. Alternatively there us a thread on turbisport about the rx8 gearbix, same as the mx5 but with ford input shaft spline and diameter.

A bell housing to type 9 is available

For what it's worth I have mated a transit mt75 5sp gearbox to a Duratorq tdci turbo diesel engine from a mondeo. Not sure if the bolt pattern is the same as duratec....
The other thing to watch out for on transit boxes is the position of the gear lever which is often right up at the front - esp on 6sp I suspect

With my Duratec I use the rwdmotorsport bellhousing to suit the type 9 gearbox.
