just wondering whether anyone has explored the possibility of using a motorcycle brake master cylinder or two for the brakes? as i have been warned
that using vacuum brakes in a light car could cause it to lock up too easily and the only non assisted cylinders that i can find are expensive
just a thought
thanks for any help
Just remove the servo and use the car Mc with a push rod

A servo is definitely overkill on such a light car imo. Why would you use a m/c which was designed for hand use anyway? Girling or Wilwood - designed
for the job

How about a pair of motorbike front calipers tho'.
You can pick up some nice cheap light weight one.
Just a thought
Shoot me down now
im going to use bike calipers on the front of my kitten ,ive seeen them on grasstrack cars and i think that some stuart taylor cars use them up front
too
He's thinking of using the M/Cs from a bike so unless he used the callipers to go with them I doubt if they will be big enough for car brakes. To use bike callipers you will need bike disks or callipers spaced to take car disks which are about 3 times thicker.
i meant id seen a locost using bike discs and calipers up front ,sure it was a st of some sort.
thanks for the help, will go down the car designed route
Bigest problem with most bike calipers is the pipe usualy attaches to the outside of the caliper making them dificult to package unless you've got large diameter wheels - which weigh more and defeat the object.
What do you mean by expensive when mentioning that you cant find manual servos cheaply? You can get Wilwood master cylinders for about £25 from Rally Design etc, a pair of those with a bias bar and you're sorted
