As far as I know they are high imp on the pinto.
If you heve a multi meter you can easily check.
12-15 ohms = high impedance
3 - 5 ohms = low impedance
If you dont have a meter I would suggest you go and buy one.
You will almost certainly need it if your installing Megasquirt.

anyway use high impedance ones (high coil resistance) else megasquirt will need to work with PWM and thats a pain in the axxx..

Tks

Not necessarily.....

There are distinct advantages to running low imp injectors...
you do not need to compensate for the "mechanical lag" associated with high imp units.
PWM isn't that tricky to get to grips with when compared to all the other parameters in MS setup.
You can also fit ballast resistors. Although this will negate the benifit stated above.

using high consuming power injectors

has also bad thing like more warmth in the injector sow the fuel will get warmer.

also it isn't entirely true because the limits are still there.

If megasquirt uses fets to accept 12ohm minimum..

It means that they can handle 1Amp max.

the same fet could have a max rating of 30amps butmaybe only for a small duration and thats where the pwm trick falls in.

sow in fact you arent entirely using your
48Watss injectors (3ohms) (you never will use 100% pwm signal wich is the same as a normal injector.

also there is always time needed to open en close the injector. altough i recon that a 3ohm (at full pull) will be faster as normal one.

am i right?

Tks

That's the whole point of low imp injectors.
You apply full voltage to "snap" the injector open quickly. The driver will not maintain this current so the system applies Pulse width modulation to reduce the effective current but still hold the injector open for the prescribed fuel pulse.

Sow,

you say that while open it

it uses 100% pwm signal and after nothing (very small amount of time) it starts pulsing the fet.

Could be true and sounds reasonable...

bike injectors are also fast!

They are high impedance. What engine are you megasquirting?

A 2.0 Pinto, was originally carbed but am shoving a EFI head on it to make sure its unleaded proof

whilst i was shoving it on - i realised i understand moreabout fuel injection and EDIS than i do about carbs and points dizzy, and the megasquirt idea came to mind, just getting all the info together at the minute whilst i finished the mechanical bits then will start to aquire the parts to get a MS install going

If you run into problems, let me know. I'm running MS on a pinto in my MK. Modified plenum, original ignition (for now), MS1 extra in fuel only mode. Dead easy to set up....
