Megatune and advance table
Downloaded megatune last night to look through it to see what it would be like to use, it doesn't seem that different from other ECU software.
However, on the drop down menus I've got a VE table but no advance table, do I need to download another part????
the version I have a is 2.25 p1.
Thanks
Alex

Hi Alex,
Just replied to your U2U. Am i right in assuming you are running pinto with ZZR1200 carbs?
Im still on 38DGAS at the moment whilst i get the MJLJ running (which is going well). I hope to fit ZZR1100 carbs soon. What are the differences
between the 1100 and 1200 carbs? Do yours have built in TPS? Mine dont and i havent yet sussed how to fit one on yet as the throttle spindles are
contained within the carbs, if there was an end sticking out it would be far easier.
By Maegatune, i assume you are running the old version that i had some comms problems with. I downloaded V3 MJLJtune and it works far better. I
downloaded it from here into the laptop
http://www.autosportlabs.net/MJLJ_V3_Downloads
V3.0
PC Configuration / Tuning software, version 3.0.0
I didnt have to upgrade the firmware (Mine is an early 2006 MJLJ with built in EDIS from Matt Kimmins).
Brent does say the V3.2 is even better but im not sure in what way. I believe that needs a firmware upgrade which i dont want to do until i know my
current set up is fully working. Its worth registering on autosport labs as the forum is excellent. I had an email from Brent which resulted in 2 days
of PC problems being fixed within 10 minutes.
Im no expert but more than happy to help based on my current experience / learnings.
Regards,
Darren.

I only have the software at the moment as I'm playing with functionoallity before purchasing, i'm replacing my ECU in the next week or two
with either MSNS or a DTA S40 (altough it's bloody expensive!).
I'm going to use my existing ZZR1200 carbs initially and then swap to TB's once i've collected the required parts.
mine have built in TPS which sits on the end of the throttle shaft, you could always build one into the throttle linkage, not quite as accurate but
better then nothing.
At the moment I can't seem to get the menu access within megatune that I think should be there....?

Which software are you playing with? The MJLJtune software i have on the laptop works fine without the MJLJ connected ref menu access. What menu
functions do you think are missing?
Ive sent you the maps to try.
Can you send me a pic of the TPS on the ZZR1200's please?

I'm using the megatune software from the meagasquirt.info site, version 2.25 for megasquirt.
The menus I thought would be in it are related to ignition timing, advance and number of cylinders etc... it has the VE table to set the injection
side of things but nothing related to ignition ??? Do i need different software for the timing as I thought it would be in the same one????
It lets me set the rest without connection to an ECU.
I'll take a pick tonight of my carbs & tps

I recall seeing a menu from that version for setting cylinder number and rev limit point etc. Its certainly on V3, worth having a look at that one
instead.
The advance table bit is the main part and appear on both. Im wondering if you have a dicky copy. Try a fresh download and see if that works.
Thanks for the pic offer.

I get it now. Very neat - thanks. The end of the spindle will probs be keyed in some way. Ill have to be inventive with my carbs. Tangoman gave me a
good suggestion ref rigging up a spring loaded pulley from the throttle cable connection and fitting the TPS i have to that. Ill have to keep my eye
open for suitable bits.
Thanks again for the pic. I missed that one when i checked your archive.

Alex,
If the Spark option on Megatunes main menu bar is greyed out then it could be due to not having selected an ignition method in the Main menu - Code
Config - Codebase and outputs function (or equivalent as I'm still using an earlier version.

I think you are right, it doesn't show at all but suspect its because I haven't selected an ignition option in the config, I'm
currently getting my head round it....
looks like more reading is necessary

With Megatune you won't see the spark table unless you are connected to the Megasquirt.
It will then be in the Sparks menu..
You can see a link to it in the tuning menu but it will be greyed out unless connected.
Summer's here!!!!

I think you are talking about entirely different bits of software. Megatune is used for configuring a Megasquirt ECU. The MJLJTune software you have
had fun getting working is purely for the MegaJolt Lite Junior ignition only system.
se7ensport, if you aren't even seeing the Spark menu then you may not have configured your project properly with the configurator program and
are seeing the default setings.
Follow the instructions at http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra/setup.html and you should be able to get the correct menus showing on Megatune.

Mike
followed your link and reinstalled, the version I had previously looked at did not give me the same options! yours worked, within config the activate
menu remained greyed out, I'm currently flicking through the setting and it all seems straight forward, I'm getting the menus I had
expected etc...
Cheers
Alex
