Indicator Switch?
mr_pr - 19/11/08 at 02:56 PM

Sounds an odd question but what have people used for indicator switches when they haven't used the stalk type switch?

I am trying to find one I like. Came across this but not sure if it is actually a push on/push off button to activate your indicators or just a LED light to show they are on.

Caterham Part

Hi,

Just use an ON/OFF/ON togge switch, if you mount it so it switches in the horzontal plane rather than vertically it is realy obvious choice- just make sure you mount it in the excluded SVA area near the steering wheel as the switch isn't radiused enough.

I think the caterham part is designerd to have 2 on each side of the steering wheel.

Press the Left one in and the left indicators flash.

I wander if they have done somthing clever to cancel the left if the right was pressed ( thinking about roudabouts !! )

mind control is the future

Yeah, I just haven't seen a switch I like. Don't really like the look of the toggle switch, doesn't fit with the vehicle I don't think.

Finding out about how caterham do it is very difficult!

Doesn't look like it. And £20 for a switch with an LED in it... Stupid money!

You can get a similar system with a microcontroller for motorbikes that self cancels after a certain amount of time (depending how long you had it pressed) or when you press the buttons again.

Hi,

I used an on - off - on switch but I also put a buzzer on it so that you have an audible warning as well as the warning light, Maplins sell them for a quid.

Regards

Bob

Yes not keen on the price for the caterham part. Want something similar but not that expensive!

That Turn signal module is perfect.
