Has anyone mounted there speed sensor to pick up on the drive shaft rather than on the prop shaft, ive got the sensor that picks up the bolt heads and
was thinking of fitting my sensor so it picks up on the 6 bolt heads on the drive shaft, it makes a bit more sence to fit it there as there is loads
of space as its getting a bit tight in my tunnel.
What are your thoughts?
Tommy
Mine is on the drive shaft but has a magnet on the shaft
IT depends on the type of speed sensor you are using. Hall effect (3 wire) types might pick up the bolts okay but when I tried to do this using the driveshaft bolts it wouldn't work. However, I was using the Racetech (branded AST) speedos which are notoriously difficult to get to accept a signal. In the end I made up trigger wheel plate which bolts under the Lobro bolts at the diff end of the driveshaft. Let me know if you fancy one, I've still got (laser cut) squirrel away in my garage...... I can send you a CAD file of the design if it helps...
my sensor only has 2 wire connectors,
BenB do you have a pic of what you have done?
Tommy
Kind of!!!
The trigger wheel looks like:
and I welded up a bracket from the diff carrier that holds the sensor
It's a bit tricky to get a better photo!!!
thats fantastic.
