i-Pod connection
mookaloid - 9/1/09 at 02:44 PM

Still a bit O/T but further my recent post about CAN bus, the same person has now asked about how to plug in her i-Pod.........

It is a MK4 Golf with standard VW audio which doesn't have any obvious way of connecting an i-Pod to it.

Suggestions please

TIA

One of the I-trip type FM transmitters. Mine works just fine as long as it is near the radio.... Total cost, £2.95 at a Jet garage!

same thing in the bluebird, I have a transmitter that plugs into the cigarette lighter and the headphone socket, there a little box in-between for changing the radio frequency. Produces superb clear sound with no hiss at all. Got the i-pod on now actually charged by the work computer USB, how the hell did we cope with tapes and CD's???!

Connects2 have a range that'll fit onto the standard BETA or GAMMA head unit that she'll have.

One on EBay at the moment but they normallly sell for £50 ish.

Ive got FM transmitter too. Perhaps not good enough for audiophiles but perfectly fine for the masses.
Only problem (if you can call it that) i have when i travel a few miles is that whilst the channel i select might be OK all over here its possible that the channel is close to a local radio station elsewhere so you sometimes have to re-programme.
