Help, Gauge showing hot
Kitlooney1000 - 1/2/04 at 09:37 PM

But its not overheating, just wondering wether the Temp Sender is stuck open, its on a 1600 Xflow, so about as simple as they come. Do i just need to buy another sender?

It could be the wire from the sender to the gauge earthed somewhere, disconnect it from the sender and see if it drops, then disconnect it from the gauge and see if it drops. If it still reads hot disconnectd at the gauge end suspect the gauge.

yours, Pete.

Hi

Did it read OK before? or is it a gauge that needs a voltage reg.

My fuel gauge (smiths) needed one.

Had exactly the same problem on my x-flow - using a new sender and origional intruments.

Found out that the instrument cluster wasn't earthed, as its earth had been disconnected by mistake.
