Bike loom in the car?
CraigJ - 3/2/09 at 05:44 PM

Will i pass Sva/Iva with a modified bike loom in the mongoose?

Would it be a good idea to add extra fuse's/relays to the loom? if so where?

Also what is the best way to add a hazard circuit to the existing loom?

Thanks Craig.

Having done a BEC myself, i'd say start the lighting circuit and so on from scratch utilising standard car fusebox, relays and switches and then splice the stripped down bike loom into an ignition life feed - just using the bike engine electrics (which includes fuel pump, rad fan etc).

car builder solutions do what is basically a plug and play hazard kit for £18. As long as it all works and you add in the extra bits n bobs there's no sva reasons it should fail.

there is less than 10 kits sold i think (last time i spoke to onyx anyway bout a year ago) only one i have seen being driven was by David from onyx in there own car at harewood hill climb in 2007 i think it was. They kinda put the Mongoose project to one side as they were concentrating on the Bugatti instead, take a look.

I have the ZZR loom in my car.

Took some wiring in, but it works OK!

Had to add in the handbrake / fluid warning light, a fog light, and hazards, but otherwise, just extended the wires forward and back in trailer wire.

Good luck Craig

Question;

If you saw more than one Mongoose on the road together, could they be referred to as a 'Flock of Mongeese'
