I've finished wiring my car up using the stm/aries supplied loom and switches, now, the rear fog works when i put the side/dipped lights on but
as soon as i switch main/high beam on the rear fog light goes out, is this ok...?

sounds right i think?
Thats how it should be - the fog light should take a feed off the side lights so it goes off as soon as you turn the lights off

It shouldn't go off with main beam.
Side ('position' ) lights should stay on all the time even when dip or main is also on (since they define the width of the car and
aren't necessarily in the same place as the main beams) and fogs should be able to operate whenever the sides are on.

hmmm, thing is it's a pre wired loom that stm/aries supply so i don't think i can of connected it up wrong.
Will it not pass sva like this then?

Fog light always used to be wired (on many older tin-tops) so it was off when you switched from dipped to main beam. Now they tend to stay on. Either way is ok for SVA. You shouldn't be using main beam in fog anyway; too much glare from the fog.
