I have been given a Ford Transit DIESEL sender guage. Is there any reason why this cannot be used with petrol? If it is OK then do I assume that the red/white cable goes to the guage and the black to earth? This is a brand new guage and my tank has been fabricated to suit its dimensions so I would like to use it if poss...

No, I'm sure you are right, but I can't see the difference in specific gravities of petrol and diesel causing more than say a couple of millimetres of float height difference. IMO of course

ur probably right but it should be easy to test just it would be a shame to build it only for somrethin stupid not to work

Have a little faith and it will work, got to have the matching gauge and voltage staberliser,am i forgiven about your ankle yet?

I am sure you will all be pleased to know that a transit diesel sender unit works fine with a standard vdo fuel guage! Thanks for your replies, now hopefully I won't run out of juice again!!

BTW - red/white to guage, black to chassis !!
