Went out for a drive yesterday and when i got back i found my dip beam was not working. Side lights are ok and the main (full) beams also work fine.
when i turn the dip on i get a buzzing noise from the relay, s i changed the relay for another yet i still get the buzzning noise. It has affected
both lamps.
Checked the bulbs
Checked fuses
Changed relay
Nothing else has been affected. Anyone else had a problem like this before? Any ideas what to check next please
sounds like you have a line to earth somewhere - loose connection in the switch maybe?
Cheers

A leak to earth would make sense but usually it would result in the fuse blowing. Perhaps it's arc'ing in the switch causing the buzzing from the relay.....
A bulb shorted out that you cant see?? We get this quite alot at work when the bulb filament blows and fuses back together.
Id try a pair of new bulbs before anything else.
Dan,
Thanks for that. I haven't had a chance to get a couple of new bulbs yet. Hopefully at the w/e.
Meantime I did get a new relay and the dipped worked fine until I switched the main beam on, then neither the dipped or main beams worked?!
So next job is to replace the bulbs as you have suggested but would you know if I will I need to get new relays as well ? I.E does the fact that it
buzzes mean it is knackered ? If it does I could get through a few before I sort this prob out! Or I take it to someone who knows a bit more about
electrics than me...
Cheers,
