Thanks to everyone who replied to my previous pleas for help with this problem. In the end it was a bad connection between the power cable and the loop on the relay. Funny how it worked for two years ! Must have been that bumpy ride across the Moors earlier this week that knocked it out. Particular thanks to Steve without whose talk through I probably would still be scratching my head. Smiling again now!
