Relay positioning??
eznfrank - 24/5/09 at 09:27 AM

Does it matter where in the circuit my relay is, for example my fuel pump relay is currently sat on the scuttle - would it be better at the back of the car much closer to the pump??

Thanks

All my relays and fuses are under the scuttle so i can cet to them if needed...

Leave where it is but make sure the terminal end hangs down so it can't fill with water.

no, just make sure the wire size is correct if you have extended any. I tend to wrap mine in a layer of foam so they arnt subject to vibrations ~(see the original bike mountings).

Anything with solder on it will break if shaken enough.

All mine are under the scuttle on a dedicated plate along with the fuse box. Out of the weather/wet and relatively easy to get to. As long as you've used sufficient guage wire you can put them where you like though.

My relays are all up under my scuttle. They are clipped together (I used those relay bases from VWP) and are stuck to the scuttle with self adhesive velcro. That way, I can get to them really easily, they don't rattle around and they are in the most weather protected part of the car.

Mine are also all under the scuttle, bought an old relay/fusebox complete with many many relays/fuses for a tenner off a modern car, pulled all the wires off and replaced with my own, stuck a new piccie inside the lid and rubber mounted it, hopefully it'll last.
