Alternative Fuel Gauge senders?
Antnicuk - 9/7/09 at 07:40 PM

I am using the stock RX7 swinging arm/float on the end type fuel sender in my tank at the moment as i dropped the whole RX7 Pump assembly in the top of my stylus tank. The arm is obviously designed for a bigger tank and doesnt clear my baffles very well. I would also like to put foam in the tank which will stop it working completely.

Is there a type of sender that works like a kettle has down the side, with a vertical tube and a float in it so i can just drop in the tank and it wont foul on baffles or foam?

Dip tube sensor is what I used, about 12" long. Its about 1/4" dia.Think its work on capacitor basis.Got it from ETB Instruments

Tek tanks sell fuel senders suitable for your application, you can select the length and resistance profile to suit tank and gauge.

Some versions of VW camper senders are also of the same design, if you can get one.

I have a spare tek tanks sender, do you know what resistance range you need and also empty resistance as it might be the wrong way round.

It was bought for a project but worked the wrong way for our application.

i have one of these:

http://kosoeurope.com/shop/product_info.php?info=p571_ATV-multifunction-speedometer--XR-SRN-.html&XTCsid=4b8bb2f1f0b6b2fa66b7c8d0b617685a

it says : Fuel gauge
Display in 10 levels (one level means 10% filled)
Fuel resistance setting
100 ohm - · 510 ohm

In the instructions it says you can choose from the yamaha setting of 100 or the honda setting of 510. doesnt mean a lot too me.

what do you think?
