Hi,
I've bought a racelogic traction control box (yes, I know, they're for girls, I bring shame on real kit car builders, but it does give me
the option for full-throttle-shifting joy) and don't much fancy paying racelogic £400 (!!!) for four hall effect sensors.
I could use regular ABS sensors but they'll be tricky to mount - the one advantage of the racelogic sensors is that they're on a long thread
so can easily be adjusted to fit properly.
Can anyone suggest a generic position-adjustable hall effect sensor that might work? I've found this - anyone tried it, or something similar?

On further reading, hall effect detects magnetic fields, and the hubs aren't magnetic, so perhaps what I need is an inductive sensor? Maybe this
kind of thing:

I had thought abot this sometime back, if you had a Sierra donor with ABS it has all the mountings, sensors and rings already there.
There are loads of cars in the scrapyard with sensors now, worth getting 4 from there.
Non magnetic sensors will need magnets, hall effects sensors will read off trigger wheels or bolt heads
Getting ABS sensors out of old cars isn't always the easiest thing to do. Does your donor not use ABS?
I use 312-9564 from rscomponents.
You will need to add extra hub pickup bolts, I recommend no less than 6 pickups per rotation of a wheel. Abs systems use many more.
I still don't have my system working properly after a lot of work. Good luck with it and keep us informed.
Cheers

Also, I've heard that ODBII cars (which mine is) detect the misfire and go into limp mode when the traction control kicks in, so I don't know if I'll be able to fit it after all... so I may have the racelogic kit up for sale soon if anyone's interested.
Dave, I've had a check up on mine with the abs sensors out of the donor, got the rears out ok and they fit a treat on the abs ring on the drive
shafts.... Managed to break the front trying to get it out but i'm 99% sure its a perfect fit in the pre drilled holes.
Great news as new sensors are only £14 and gives us 50 odd trigger points on each corner for the TC/launch control etc
