12v LED Flasher Units
scootz - 12/3/11 at 08:49 PM

I need to get flasher units for two LED dash 'tell-tale' lights. £10 a pop on eBay... anyone know of a cheaper source?

PS... thanks!

More info on what you are trying to achieve might help.
My dash mounted LED oil pressure warning light has a built in flasher circuit and is no bigger than any of th other ones.

Make the hazard and indicator 'tell-tale' dash lights flash.

This sort of thing...

If you have bulb units for the actual lights then the led;s will flash ok as it's the load there that operates the flasher unit.

Sorry guys... I'm obviously not explaining myself very well (what's new!).

I already have LED bulbs and bezels to use as 'tell-tale' lights on my dash next to the relevant toggle-switch.

I need two of them to flash (indicator and hazard).

Omega... are you saying that if the actual indicator lights have a built-in flasher unit (mine do) then these will take care of a single LED back at the dash end of the circuit!?

If the actual lights on the car are bulb units and NOT leds then a std flasher unit will suffice. A single dash telltale light could be utilized but would need feeds from the left and right hand indicators. Each of these feeds would need a diode in the line to stop the left indicator illuminating the right and vice versa.

Some on here have done it this way and I'm sure there are circuit sketches that a search would turn up.

Cheers...

The actual indicator / hazard lights themselves are LED with their own flasher units.

You should be OK with them then as the dash led is a minimal load to add in.

Scootz, You can run 12V LEDs in parallel from almost any flasher light (LED or filament bulb) and you will not need any additional flasher unit or circuitry - just get the polarity right. I have exactly the sort of setup in my car, as I installed 2 extra Savage warning lights (LED) into my indicators to give a more obvious warning light (the Evodash ones are tiny and I was always forgetting to cancel them)
