Hi Guys,
in my striker with a 1300 xflow, how am i supposed to wire up the rad fan?
I assume it shouldn't be permanently on, but how does a rad fan actually know when to work and when not to?
ps. the fan just has two terminals which appear to be positive and neg, i'm assuming this is normal.
Thanks,
Andy
normal 1mm perm live from a live fuse to a thermo switch (normally in the side of the rad or top of the thermostat ali housing.)
other side to a relay - other side of relay to earth.
now, the heavy duty cable fused to the side of the relay (2mm ish cable)
other side of relay to fan, other side of fan to earth.
the risk is the fan burning out the thin wire and setting your car alight when fan runs on if hot.
thats why you need to use a relay.

As said there should be a thermal switch like this
Screwed into either the radiator, or the top hose/Thermostat housing
Then wire like this

ian, thanks for that!
ken, thanks for putting it in english for me! (i'm not very clever without a diagram...!)
Yeh thats the connection i've got on the rad so should be quite straight forward.
i have covered this exact topic before and you may find this useful;
