koso db02r - making extra symbols

Hi all,

I have just bought a DB02r with the indicator lights. This does not include Brake warning lights or a fog light indicator. Also, the backlight comes on all the time that the unit is powered. I am thinking of making my own symbols for the light unit by printing them with my inkjet onto acetate. Has anyone tried this?

Alternatively, I can cut the brake symbol out from my fiesta dash if I have to, and I have an illuminated fog light switch, that just leaves the side light telltale - has anyone managed to get the backlight to switch with the lights on this model?

Thanks all!

JC

I've often thought about making a display myself using coloured plastic then painting the back black and scraping off the symbols from the back to reveal light behind. If that makes sense?

Well, I got myself some inkjet acetate and downloaded a free vector graphics drawing package from the Internet. I produced the symbols in a large format and then imported them into a document where it was easy to scale them. The first few attempts were awful but once I worked out the best printer settings, the results were pretty good. The black is nice and solid but the red and green is a little pale. The solution to this is to feed them back in with just red or green blocks of colour in a document and then overprint. I am very pleased with the results! I will post some pictures when I can!
