Savage Hazard Switch Wiring - Sierra
Howlor - 11/11/05 at 04:05 PM

Hi,

How have people wired the Savage hazard switches. Looking at the Sierra wiring diagram I need to connect L/R/49a/30 together but obviously keeping these separate for the indicators to work correctly. There is also a switch shown that open connects 49to54 and closed 49to30. Any ideas welcome. Thanks

my wiring diagram shows how it's done with the hazard switch, this is how MAC1 do it.

Hi, That is very useful I will print off a copy and study it in more detail. Just out of interest what is the 21W Ballast resistor for on your side repeaters?

Thanks

Along the same lines, does the Savage hazard switch itself flash when the hazards do, ie when selected?

Has anyone got a Savage rear fog switch and does this light up when the fogs are on or are they permanently illuminated with dash lights? and therefore require an additional warning light for SVA.

Thanks

Rich

Up to you how you wire it....my savage switches have dual relays so you can use for the main switch and the other for the light if you wish.

FWIW, I've set them all to light up with the dash and used separate warning lamps.

I see, so the whole light lights up blue with the symbol and the ring round the outside together. I thought perhaps the symbol part could be set to illuminate seperately as the warning.

Ill have the same decision I guess, light up with sidelights or light up when selected (this would work as the warning I suppose providing SVA dont mind the colour of the warning ie theyre all blue).

Thanks

Rich

Savage switches are very versatile. Its up to you how you wire up.

Fog switch - mine just illuminates with dash lights (ie when i have side lights on). You could just as easily make it illuminate when the fog is on by taking a feed from term 1 and linking it to the illumination terminal.
Q - does the fog only need to operate with the ignition on? Mine actually operates with ign on or off but the tell tale light on DD2 only works with ign on.

Hazard switch - ive just had to wire mine up so it flashes when hazards are on. My dash light (grees arrow) doesnt work with ignition off! (DD2) - hence now using the savage switch itself as the tell tale. Credit goes to Oliver at Mac#1 for sussing this ciruit out - needs a diode.
The savage switch itself does not flash. It only allows the indicators to be mechanically joined (not electrically). Savage switches are clever in that they are actually two independant switches in one. Get the indicators fully working first. Left indicator output from indicator stalk goes to one side teminal 1, right to other side terminal 2. Indicator control wire to one side term 2 and then link over to other side term 2. Terminal 3's not used.

Ive used toggle switch for indicators.

What value of diode is required guys?
