Electrics on my 7 are as follows
Premier wiring loom
Emerald ECU
Digidash2 lite
Ecotec on tb's
My question is can i use the same sensor to provide inputs to both the digidash and emerald eg coolant temp
I'm thinking not but just checking what ppl think
Unlikely as these work on resistance between ground and the sender terminal.
If you add another reference in there then there is no guarantee this won't introduce error.
Sorry to say you almost certainly won't be able to as both will work by trying to measure the voltage across the sensor when put in series with
another resistive element and a voltage applied - connecting two different units to the same sensor would almost certainly cause incorrect readings
without some sort circuitry in there to trick one of the units - although this feasible if you knew how the one you were trying to 'trick'
worked. (I can think of one way to do it but you might find that doubling up on the sensors you need would be simpler)
Hope that helps
i thought as much which i would imagine why the digidash comes with all the sensors. theres no simple easy way to get 2 signal from a comparative
resistancey thing.
no bother double up on sensors it is, i have them all anyway
Hi Liam
Join the club! Emerald and Astradash - two sensors for water temperature - I'm no sure what else will 'double up' yet as I haven't
worked out what's what on the Blackbird engine!
when you sold everything wyn i was hopingyou might sell your emerald. you keeping it with the bird engine?
I thought it was possible but i hadn't heard of anyone doing it. I hope it is because i'd love to bike engine something

Hi Liam
I plan on using the Emerald system on the Bird engine although this isn't going to be simple!
See here for a thread on this
The main reasons for staying with the Emerald system:
It's very good!
I've got one!
The Bird engine is a carb version but I'm fitting throttle bodies (Suzuki GSXR 1000 which fit and the Bird injected engine ones don't!!).
You'll soon see a set of Blackbird carbs and throttle bodies up for sale! So I'd have no chance using the Honda management system anyway.
I'll let you know how I get on.
Regards
Wyn

do you really need a temp gauge?
can't you just drive an overtemp warning light from a spare output on the emerald ecu?
Syd,
Could you direct me to some more info on the duplication of the signal from sensors ? I intend to use an Emerald and, in due time ;D some datalogging
box and they're not always fully compatible.
Thanks,
Michal
